An uplifting, educational, fun, free event, an Opportunity Conference helps people in poverty build hope, skills and motivations for improving their lives. Participants discover their strengths, receive resources and meet people who can assist them. They are also paired with a Navigator who will help with challenges and opportunities after the Conference.
SLO County’s Opportunity Conference is coming up:
Saturday, February 26, 2011
9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Cuesta College, San Luis Obispo
Born into a family that followed the fruit harvests, Donna found herself a young adult with three mouths to feed, a monthy check of less than $500 and no prospects for improving her situation. She knows what it’s like to live in poverty, and she knows it takes more than a handout to change a life. She tells about all this and more at the Opportunity Conference.
The Conference is completely free to all participants. Transportation, childcare and lunch are provided. And every attendee will receive gifts and the chance to win prizes.
